Wun Wun Nova Chiu: " A Shangri-La collection "

For her BA final major project at The London College of Fashion (LCF), the 24-year-old Nova Chiu used her homeland of Shangri-La as her main source of inspiration. As described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton, Shangri-La is a mystical, harmonious valley, an earthly paradise isolated from the outside world.
Chiu's collection comprises all aspects of life in Shangri-La, such as clothing, the arts, landscape, and architecture. The results are modernized and colorful garments shaped in the form of Chinese architecture, inverted A-Line and Oval, all taken from traditional temples and houses.
Accessories such as bells have all been hand stitched on most of the outfits, especially on the fur coats. Jade and wooden beads, sequins, tapestry prints are featured in the entire collection.

A striking F/W 2012 collection for Nova Chiu, LCF's winner of Collection of the Year 2011.
