Le " Corset " viewed by Hubert Barrere

The whole fashion new wave from Jean-Paul Gaultier to John Galliano passing by Alexander McQueen or even Stella McCartney see in the corset, an elegant and erotic cloth as an enchanting accessory able to spice up their creations.

Coming from the military dress, the corset has lost its defensive role and character to become a tool of seduction over the centuries. While it is currently peaking again, French fashion designer Hubert Barrere teams up with art critic Charles-Arthur Boyer to tell the story.

Hubert Barrere, known for his designs of corsets, has collaborated with leading luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, and Dolce Gabbana. In 1996, he received the Grand Prix de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. Also artistic director of the embroiderer Hurel, the fashion designer was elected president of the Paris Fashion Group in 2008. His creations are presented throughout the world.

Here are some excerpts from " Corset ."

Three measures of lace, a score of corset-steel, corset cloth for the countenance, quilt "to give some flesh," eyelets and a lot of imagination......

  1. I think they are really a tool of seduction. Girls are very feminine wearing them.
