Sarah Moon 12345

British-born fashion photographer and film-maker, based in Paris, Sarah Moon is a living legend. After concluding a successful modeling career, she made a name for herself as one of the first female photographers of haute couture. The images Moon created for the French fashion houses Chanel and Cacharel, as well as her legendary color compositions for Comme des Garcons, speak an extraordinary poetic language. The dream world is quintessential to her work; her photographs lead us into a world bewitched.

Sarah Moon 12345 is currently on view at Fotografiska in Stocklhom. The exhibition features over 200 photographs and two videos entitled The Red Thread and Contact.

Upcoming exhibition at Art and Design Barcelona, Feb. 1 to Feb. 19, 2011

" Minimal-Baroque " according to Prada

To promote their new line of sunglasses, Prada turned to three fashion illustrators - Ivo Bisignano, Marcela Gutierrez and Andrea Tarella - to create the campaign. Named " Minimal-Baroque," the capsule collection was recently launched in Beijing, China.

“Curves, friezes and bas-relief effects are the main design features of the Minimal-Baroque. The colour combinations: white/blue, white/black and white/honey with the choice of acetate, seamlessly coordinate the lines of the frame front and arms sculpted into rococo curls, whose decoration is the distinctive feature.”

Scarlett for Moet & Chandon 2011

Moet & Chandon has announced its new international advertising campaign featuring Scarlett Johansson, the ambassador for the brand since March 2009, and shot by British photographer Tim Walker. The campaign took place on the Moet & Chandon Estate in Epernay, France. Walker's new photographs bring to life the rich heritage and savoir-faire of the world's leading champagne.

Andrée Putman: The Ambassador of French Style

The first retrospective in France of the work of the design diva Andrée Putman, is currently on view at the Hotel de Ville, Paris. The exhibition features copies of furniture, and re-creations of rooms that she designed such as the famous bathrooms at the Morgans Hotel in New York, the interior refurbishment of Concorde and many other places.

Born in 1925, Andrée Putman career spans more than 4 decades and she was designated "Above taste" by the German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung. In the 1980s, she rediscovered several major designers- Eileen Gray, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Mariano Fortuny- and launched the company Ecart International to manufacture and market these modern classics. At the same time, Mme. Putman invented the "Boutique Hotel" for Ian Schrager with Morgans in New York and then the Wasserturm in Cologne and Pershing Hall in Paris.

Eclectic projects have ranged from the Fine Arts Museum of Rouen to the CAPC in Bordeaux, from the movie sets for Peter Greenaway to the Concorde for Air France. Recent work in product design include an important silverware and jewelry collection with Christofle, a champagne cooler for Veuve Clicquot and an ultimate evolution of the legendary Steamer Bag from Louis Vuitton.

Simplicity, elegance and the use of black and white (her famous chequerboard designs were a huge success in 1984) is found in both old and recent works.

Alexis Mabille " Sunkissed "

One of the most anticipated shows of the week is from the young French couturier Alexis Mabille. After receiving his diploma from Paris' Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 1997, the designer who grew up in the city of Lyon, undertook apprenticeships at Ungaro and Nina Ricci fashion houses, before joining the team at Christian Dior with whom he stayed for nine years. During his time at Dior he created exquisite fine jewelry for John Galliano, as well as the Dior Homme line overseen by Heidi Slimane.

For spring-summer 2011, the Alexis Mabille woman embraces uncomplicated chic. The designer has composed a wardrobe of pieces that can be mixed and matched. Precise cuts are inspired by the lightning used by the late Irving Penn. Cotton and linen go anywhere. Jersey and silk soften leather and denim. A series of Raoul Dufy prints conjure a carefree, promising era. The ultra-feminine silhouette is adapted to an active, contemporary lifestyle, with an accent on dresses, jackets, pants, and jeans that are easy to wear. A beautiful collection with refreshing and dynamic clothes.
