Trespass. A History of Uncommissioned Urban Art

In recent years street art has grown bolder, more sophisticated and in some cases, more acceptable. Yet unsanctioned public art remains the problem child of cultural expression, it has also become a global phenomenon of the 21st century. Not just another book on street art, Trespass features key works by 150 artists from around the world, and connects four generations of visionary outlaws such as Keith Haring, Jean Tinguely, Barry McGee, Guerrilla Girls, Shepard Fairey, Banksy and many more. The 318-page book also contains pieces of history, including unpublished photographs and images of street art by Keith Haring, Jean-michel Basquiat and Martha Cooper. The book starts with a quote from Queen Mary.

Algodon Mansion, a new destination

A new luxury boutique hotel and spa, the Algodon mansion opened last month in the posh Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recolea. From the team behind Algodon Wine Estates, one of Argentina's premier Malbec wine producers, a six-story 1912 mansion turned into 10 sleek suites. Housed in a French-Style mansion, the hotel offers all the luxury accommodations, such as personal chef, Frette linens, modern design furniture, ebony wood floor, lavish bathrooms and more. The rooftop features a pool and a Vinotherapie spa (see L'Ile aux Oiseaux), a relaxation technique using organic products from Algodon's wine estate in Mendoza.

Tribal Fashion

 I am sure that some of you have already seen these series of images, but for the Fashion Week, I would like to mention this fabulous Tribal Fashion show inspired by Mother Nature. Far from the catwalks of New York, London or Paris, these stunning looks are the creation of the Surma and Mursi tribes of East Africa's Omo Valley, inspired by the exotic flowers, the wild fruit trees and lush vegetation of the area bordering Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan. 

For his book " Natural Fashion: Tribal Decoration from Africa," German photographer Hans Silvester has captured powerful images of the Omo Valley people, presenting the beauty of the tribe's ancient tradition of temporary body decoration. His photographs reveal the use of bright mineral paints to embellish the skin and the use of flora and fauna to fashion spectacular headpieces and body accessories.

Hans Silvester is an acclaimed award winning photographer. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and he is also the subject of almost 50 books. His most recent one is Natural Fashion: Tribal Decoration from Africa.
