Andrew Moore - Making History

Arising From the Ashes

"We hope for better things; it will arise from the ashes,"was the motto adopted by the city of Detroit, after it was ravaged by the great fire of 1805. Andrew Moore distills the spirit of this message in his haunting large scale images of decay and renewal.

Le Grand Bal, DIOR

Invitation to "LE GRAND BAL".

The Christian Dior Museum in Granville will for the first time ever bring together over 50 Dior ball gowns for the new exhibition “The Dior Grand Ball”, from May 13 to September 26, 2010.
This remarkable new exhibition places the universe and creations of Chris- tian Dior—haute couture, accessories and fragrances from the House of Dior, plus paintings, photographs, archive films and literary works—in a unique context: the history of balls, from the 18th century to the present. The exhibition is a tribute to Christian Dior himself, showcasing his talent and refinement, and his love of sumptuous costumes, expressed in creations for the grand balls of the post-war period.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo History, Tradition and Celebration.
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a voluntarily observed holiday that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States. While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day, the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.

This post is all about Mexican culture.
